[edit]From earlier pangibugho, theorized to be pa- + ngibugho, from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *buʀəhuʔ (“jealous”). Alternate theoretical roots include tibugho and bugho. Compare Cebuano abubho, Waray-Waray abugho, Tausug abughu', Malay cemburu, and Sundanese ᮒᮤᮙ᮪ᮘᮥᮛᮥ (timburu). Doublet of pangimbulo.
