[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *pęta. Cognate with Bulgarian пета́ (petá), Slovene pêta, Russian пята́ (pjatá), Czech pata. Non-Slavic cognates include Pashto پونده (pūndaʿh, “heel”) and Old Prussian pentis.
