Borrowed from Classical Persian روزه (rōza, fast; sawm), from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (lwck' /⁠rōzag⁠/), 𐫡𐫇𐫝𐫃 (rwcg /⁠rōzag⁠/, fast), from Proto-Iranian *ráwčakah (fast).
