[edit]From Proto-Bantu *mʊ̀kádí. Cognate with Luganda omukazi (“woman”), Chichewa mkázi (“woman”), Herero omukazendu (“woman”) and Swahili mke (“wife”). Doublet of -kati (feminine suffix) and muka (“wife of”).
