Etymology

[edit]

From o- +‎ förtövad, from the past participle of förtöva, known from Old Swedish ofortövadher, cognate with Middle Low German unvortogen.

Adjective

[edit]

oförtövad (not comparable)

  1. restless, without delay, immediate

Usage notes

[edit]
  • Even though SAOL 13th ed. lists this as an adjective, it seems to be very uncommon in literature. Far more common is the adverb oförtövat. Hellquist describes the adverb, and mentiones the adjective at the end of the article.
