[edit]From *ndërr, from Proto-Albanian *anteros, from Proto-Indo-European *an-2 (“there, on the other side”). Cognate to Old Prussian antars, anters (“other, second”), Lithuanian añtras and Old High German andar (“other”). Alternatively, from Latin alterō with irregular change of the sonorant. [1]
