Etymology

From nappy +‎ bin (“an enclosed place, used as a storage container”), due to one common design of a nappy pail resembling the shape of a typical dustbin.

     Highlight of the exhibition was a complete nursery set, arranged by Mrs. E. A. Coghlan, every article in it being hand-made. These included a floor rug, hand-blocked curtains, Moses basket, work-basket and soiled nappy bin made from bullrushes, band-woven blankets that were replicas of the ones sent to Princess Elizabeth.
