From Proto-Norse *ᚾᚨᛒᛟᚷᚨᛁᛉᚨᛉ (*nabogaiʀaʀ), from Proto-Germanic *nabōgaizaz. Cognate with Old English nafugār (English auger), Old Saxon navugēr, Old High German nabagēr.
