[edit]From a contraction of nə (what) + təhər (manner), from Azerbaijani tövr, borrowed from Arabic طَوْر (ṭawr) or From a contraction of nə (what) + Proto-Turkic *tür (“sort, kind, shape”) — compare dialectal Turkish neter or From Common Turkic *nē-täg (“like what”), Cognate with Ottoman Turkish نته (nitä, nätä, “how”) and Karakhanid نَتَكْ (nätäg, “how”).
