From a contraction of (what) + təhər (manner), from Azerbaijani tövr, borrowed from Arabic طَوْر (ṭawr) or From a contraction of (what) + Proto-Turkic *tür (sort, kind, shape) — compare dialectal Turkish neter or From Common Turkic *nē-täg (like what), Cognate with Ottoman Turkish نته (nitä, nätä, how) and Karakhanid نَتَكْ (nätäg, how).
