[edit]From Malay muktazilah, from Classical Malay معتزلة, from Arabic الْمُعْتَزِلَة (al-muʕtazila, “the isolating one, Mu'tazila”), from اِعْتَزَلَ (iʕtazala, “to isolate oneself, to disassociate”)
