Etymology
[edit]Unknown, but probably via pluralia tantum Scandinavian words like Danish mæslinger (“measles”), Icelandic mislingar (“measles”) and Norwegian Nynorsk meslingar, combining the Germanic roots related to blood blisters with the suffix -ing.
