From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Portuguese

[edit]
macuquinho-baiano (Eleoscytalopus psychopompus)

Etymology

[edit]

Literally, Bahian tapaculo.

Noun

[edit]

macuquinho-baiano m (plural macuquinho-baianos)

  1. (Brazil) Bahia tapaculo (Eleoscytalopus psychopompus)

Usage notes

[edit]
  • The gender of this Portuguese zoonym is always masculine: when the gender of the being itself must be specified, use “macuquinho-baiano macho” for male, and “macuquinho-baiano fêmea” for female. Here, fêmea is treated as an undeclinable noun and don't necessarily need to agree in gender with the referent, but would change to fêmeo if so.
