[edit]From Middle High German müejen, müewen, müen, nominalized müeje, müe, from Old High German muoen, nominalized muoī, probably ultimately derived from Proto-West Germanic *mōjan, from Proto-Germanic *mōjaną (“to tire”). Equivalent to Mühe + -en.
