- (regional, Southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland) to lift; to raise
- (soccer) to lift the ball steeply, usually without spin, by putting the tip of one’s foot under it and abruptly lifting the leg

[edit]- The football term has become common throughout the language area in the southern form lupfen, though the variant lüpfen is occasionally used instead.
