[edit]Ultimately onomatopoeic, compare llup, lëpij, llufit, llapë, as well as Ancient Greek λάπτω (láptō), Old Armenian լափեմ (lapʻem), Bulgarian ла́пам (lápam).
Sense 4 may have arisen due to conflation with llaf (“chat, gossip”), compare the alternation llafazan, llapazan.
