[edit]From Proto-Albanian *lap-, from Proto-Indo-European *lh2p- (“to lick, lap”). Cognate to Ancient Greek λάπτω (láptō, “to sip, lap”) and Old Armenian լափեմ (lapʻem, “to lick”).[1]
