From Proto-Albanian * ̊kurā, from Proto-Indo-European *(s)keuh₁- (to cover (over), wrap (up)). Cognate to Ancient Greek σκύλος (skúlos, fell, pell, rind), Latin corium (leather, skin). Related to lakur (skin) (now dialectal). See also lakuriq.
