[edit]Coined by American author and neologist John Koenig, creator of The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, from Ancient Greek κοινός (koinós, “common, general”) and the modern English suffix -phobia, itself from the Ancient Greek -φοβία (-phobía, “fear”).[1]
