Lithuanian

Etymology

[edit]

Probably from kìšti (to poke, to shove) +‎ -enė.[1] Older theories have suggested that the word may instead have been borrowed from Slavic; compare Belarusian кі́шка (kíška), Polish kiszka (intestine, bowel), ultimately from Proto-Slavic *kyšьka.[2]
