[edit]By surface analysis, Katrin + plommon. Cognate of German Katharinenpflaume, French prune Sainte Catherine (“Sainte-Catherine plum”). Likely named after Catherine of Alexandria (or possibly some other saint named "Catherine"), but the exact reason is unclear.
