[edit]Akin to Logudorese isvrunciare (“to whip; (figuratively) to reproach”), itself likely akin to isfrunza (“rod; whip”), derived from frunza (“branch; sprout; rod”). Perhaps partially shaped by influence from Italian broncio (“sulk, pout”).[1]
