1. A line on a map connecting places that receive equal solar radiation, or equal daily hours of sunshine.

     Each map shows a zone of increased sunshine between Ghana and Nigeria, destroying the regular pattern of east-west trending isohels across southern Nigeria and Ivory Coast.
