- (often with a particle, especially omkring (“around”) or runt (“around”)) to wander, to stray, to rove, to ramble (move (erratically and) more or less aimlessly (due to being lost or searching for something or the like))
- Han hade irrat omkring i skogen i två dagar när vi hittade honom
- He had been wandering around the forest for two days when we found him
- Jag tog en promenad från hotellet och irrade bort mig
- I took a walk from the hotel and got lost ("irred myself lost")
- Nisse irrade iväg i fel riktning
- Nisse wandered off in the wrong direction (can also imply heading the wrong way or the like in a somewhat confused manner, like here)
