Usage notes

[edit]

Precisely speaking, vesicular and intravesicular things are different from vesical and intravesical things, because a vesicle (a vesicula) is different from a vesica—it is a diminutive counterpart, as a blister on the skin, or an organelle inside a cell, is smaller than a urinary bladder or a gallbladder. This is why referring to intravesical chemotherapy as "intravesicular chemotherapy" is subtly misspoken; but the infelicity is subtle enough that no misunderstanding is likely and many readers will not think twice about the mischosen word. The same venial infelicity is true of enterovesicular meaning enterovesical.
