[edit]From ìjọba + alágbádá, ultimately from ì- (“nominalizing prefix”) + jọba (“to rule”) + oní- (“one who has”) + agbádá (“agbada”), literally “The government of the one who wears the agbada”
- This refers to the fact that many leaders of democratic government's in Africa wear the African attire the agbada, as opposed to the military uniform of military dictators.
