[edit]From Ottoman Turkish خارق العاده, from Persian خارقالعاده (xâreqo-l-'âde), from Arabic خَارِقُ العَادَة (ḵāriqu al-ʕāda), equivalent to harika + adet. Compare Azerbaijani xariqüladə, Crimean Tatar harikulade and Uzbek xoriqulodda.
