[edit]From Old Swedish græmia, græma, from Old Norse gremja, from Proto-Germanic *gramjaną. Cognate of German grämen, Gothic 𐌲𐍂𐌰𐌼𐌾𐌰𐌽 (gramjan), Old English gremman. Doublet of gramse.
Verb

- to make bitter and irritated

- It irked him that he had sold the stocks so early
- (reflexive) to fret (often over a mistake)
