Derived verbal noun of form I verb għad (to say, to tell), itself from form IV Arabic أَعَادَ (ʔaʕāda, “to repeat, say repeatedly”). Compare Arabic عَوْدَات (ʕawdāt), plural of عَوْدَة (ʕawda), derived verbal noun of form I verb عَادَ (ʕāda⁩). For the form compare also għajnuna.
