[edit]From Proto-Oghuz *kēbše-, Proto-Turkic *kēb-. Cognate to Azerbaijani gövşəmək, Gagauz gevşemää, dialectal Turkish gevmek, geviş getirmek, Turkmen gäwüş, Old Anatolian Turkish كوشمك (gevşemek).
