framsóknardanska
Appearance
Icelandic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From framsókn + danska. Presumably named after the Icelandic progressives (framsóknarmenn) that were pushing for Danish to be taught in Iceland. Icelanders became familiar with reading and writing in Danish, but lacked pronunciation skills, thus creating a form of Danish spoken with a lot of features of Icelandic pronunciation.
Pronunciation
[edit]Noun
[edit]framsóknardanska f (genitive singular framsóknardönsku, no plural)
