[edit]From Ancient Greek ἐπένδυμα (epénduma), "upper garment", from ἐπενδύνω (ependúnō, “I put on over”) + -μα (-ma, noun suffix), from ἐπι- (epi-, “on, over”) + ἐνδύνω (endúnō, “I put on (clothes)”).
