   • 1916, Leo Mayer, “The physiological method of tendon transplantation”, in Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, volume 22, page 475:

     In the later cases, the transplanted tendon showed a slight hypertrophy of the endotenon and of the blood-vessels (Fig. 2) and was slightly softer than the normal; otherwise no changes were noted.
