Etymology

[edit]

From Einzelsprache +‎ -lich.

Adjective

[edit]

einzelsprachlich (strong nominative masculine singular einzelsprachlicher, not comparable)

  1. pertaining to one or more individual languages
  2. (historical linguistics, especially) referring to the period after the break-up of a proto-language
Bei Komposita ist grundsprachlicher Ursprung schwer zu beweisen, da diese auch erst einzelsprachlich verbreitet sein können, zumal der Lautstand als Kriterium ausfällt.
With compounds it is difficult to prove their existence in a proto-language, because they can also have spread after the end of linguistic unity, especially as phonetic criteria are not applicable in this case.
