  • If the complement is a personal pronoun, edestä takes a possessive suffix, and the pronoun can then be omitted if it is a first-person or second-person pronoun (as is standard with possessive suffixes):
    Metso lähti lentoon aivan (minun) edestäni.
    A wood grouse took wing right in front of me.
    Edestämme kuului avunhuutoja.
    In front of us we heard cries for help.
