Etymology

From Ancient Greek δῠσώδης (dusṓdēs, ill-smelling), from δῠσ- (dus-) + ὄζω (ózō, smell), + -ile.

  1. (mineralogy) A soft, finely laminated, greenish or yellowish-grey impure earthy or coaly bitumen, which emits a highly foetid odour when burning.
