Etymology
[edit]From Old Norse dagverðr, dǫgurðr. Cognates include Danish davre.
Attested as Duelen in Glossarium Norvagicum (1749) of Erik Pontoppidan. This spelling is probably representing an Eastern pronunciation, although the author was doing his lexicography research in Western Norway.
