[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Ottoman Turkish طومالان (domalan, tomalan, “that rises as a projection above a flat surface; tumor; truffle”), from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (domalan, tomalan). Cognate with Crimean Tatar domalan, Azerbaijani dombalan. Akin to domalmak (“to bulge out”) + -an.
Armenian դոմբալա (dombala, “truffle”) and probably Hungarian tapló (“tinder, fungus”), Udi телепа (telepa, “mushrooms”) are Turkic borrowings.
