[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish دریڭلك (deriñlik, “depth, profundity, abstruseness, a deep place, a hollow”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish دریڭ (deriñ, “deep, profound, a depth, deep place”), from Proto-Turkic *teriŋ (“deep”),[2] from Proto-Turkic *teri- (“to collect, to accumulate”),[3] morphologically derin + -lik.
