1. A subgenre of dubstep with a fast tempo that incorporates ambient and industrial samples.

     Another area where I suspect there's some crossover, but I haven't poked around in much, is within death/black metal. Certainly some of what I've heard has the dark techy feel of techstep / darkstep like Technical Itch and whatnot, but it's not something I've had the time to look into properly.

     on 10.10.10 the new DREAM ITO DUST song "counterfeit" was released online in 6 different mixes plus a video. besides the original, there is a darkstep mix, a breakcore mix [bryin dall], an EBM mix [angztek industries], a cold wave mix [prequel], and a powernoise mix [theologian].
