cross-cast (third-person singular simple present cross-casts, present participle cross-casting, simple past and past participle cross-cast)

1. (accounting) To add up the separately computed totals from each column to ensure that they agree with the overall total.
2. (theater) To cast an actor of the opposite gender to play a part.
