(medicine, cardiology) A pattern on an electrocardiogram with a fancied resemblance to the work of a crochet needle; it is a notch near the apex of the R wave in inferior limb leads of atrial septal defects of the ostium secundum type (patent ostium secundum, that is, patent foramen secundum).
