[edit]Borrowed rom New Latin cricoīdēs, from Ancient Greek κρῐκοειδής (krikoeidḗs, “ring-shaped, annular”), from κρίκος (kríkos, “ring”) + -ειδής (-eidḗs, “-like, -oid”).
