[edit]From cosmo- (“world, universe”) + -crat (“ruler”), originally (in the plural) seemingly in reference to demonic powers in Ephesians 6:12; later used as a variant of cosmocrator, translating Ancient Greek κοσμοκράτωρ (kosmokrátōr) in various ancient texts.
