[edit]Formed analogically, with the verbal suffix -ir, from cueil, stressed conjugated form of the original cueudre, cueildre, cueldre, from Latin colligere (“collect”), from con- (“with, together”) + legō (“bring together, gather, collect”).

Conjugation
[edit]This verb conjugates as a third-group verb. This verb ends in a palatal stem, so there is an extra i before the e of some endings. This verb has a stressed present stem cueill distinct from the unstressed stem coill, as well as other irregularities. Old French conjugation varies significantly by date and by region.
