[edit]From an unattested Vulgar Latin *caurcadunu, the metathesis and regressive assimilation of Vulgar Latin *qualqua(m) (from qualis (“of such kind as”) + quam (“how, as”)) + unus. Doublet of quarcadunu. Compare Sicilian soccadunu and Italian qualcheduno.
