[edit]chingolingo m (plural chingolingos)
- (gambling, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador) a carnival game of chance, commonly played by guesing the result of thrown dice, or by dropping a marble on a board with red and black holes, or with figures drawn on the holes; there are several variations with slight changes
- Synonym: (loosely defined) lotería
- 1901, Mariano Zeceña, Plumadas, Guatemala: Siguere & Cia., page 136:
- ¡Que vayan los diputados al chingolingo y á la ruleta á que me les desplumen y que vean así prácticamente los efectos de sus leyes!
- Let the deputies come to the dice game of chance and roulette, for them to be robbed and so they will notice practically the effects of their laws!
