box boy (plural box boys)

  1. A man who assists a disc jockey by transporting and setting up the speakers, the collection of records, etc.
    • 1997, Chris Potash, Reggae, Rasta, Revolution: Jamaican Music from Ska to Dub:
      The moving staff (or “box boys” as they are called because they lift a lot of speaker boxes) are in charge of transporting and positioning the equipment.
    • 2015, MC Flux, Dirty:
