Compound of bokstav (“letter”) +‎ -s- +‎ kombination (“combination”).

1. A letter combination; a sequence of letters in a certain order (but does normally not refer to words).
2. (colloquial) A collective term about certain diagnoses that are referred to by abbreviations: ADHD, ADD, ASD, DAMP.

   Jag tror hon har någon bokstavskombination.

   I believe she has a neurodevelopmental disorder.

   (literally, “I believe she has some letter combination.”)

Usage notes

• In the strictest sense, all words are indeed bokstavskombinationer (“letter combinations”). However; most often the term refers to more unstructured sequences of letters, such as abbreviations or codes.
