bogsera

Swedish
[edit]Verb
[edit]bogsera (present bogserar, preterite bogserade, supine bogserat, imperative bogsera)
Usage notes
[edit]- As a rule of thumb, bogsera implies that the thing being towed (or the object of the verb) is the thing that needs to be transported (rather than something loaded on it or the like), and so is the natural verb for towing a disabled vehicle or the like. For towing a trailer or the like, dra (“pull”) sounds better.
- As an exception to the above, bogsera is idiomatic for towing a barge without its own means of propulsion.
- Compare bärga (“salvage”).
