From Malay bibit, Borrowed from Javanese ꦧꦶꦧꦶꦠ꧀ (bibit, seed), ꦮꦶꦮꦶꦠ꧀ (wiwit, beginning), from Old Javanese wwit, wwīt, wit (origin, beginning; base, foundation; stem, tree).
