[edit]From early Ajami Turkic باتی (batı), from Old Anatolian Turkish *باتی (batı), from Proto-Turkic *batïg (“west”)[1]. Likely was reintroduced into the modern language as a Turkic synonym of the Arabic-derived qərb, or directly borrowed from Turkish batı.

[edit]Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish *باتی (batı), from Proto-Turkic *batïg (“west”), a derivation from Proto-Turkic *bat-;[1] cognate with Azerbaijani batı and Turkish batı.[2]
